Wax is a lubricant that reduces friction between the ski/board base and the snow. Nothing will ruin a day on the slopes quicker than a slow base. Properly waxing your ski/board enables you to use gravity and lack of friction to its fullest. Waxing your ski/board makes the base glide better so tuning is easier, gives you more control on the snow, and allows for a quicker response.
