Ski & Snowboard Wax: Snow & Iron Temp Charts

Ski & Snowboard Wax: Snow & Iron Temp Charts

7th Oct 2025

Wend produces a sophisticated line of all-mountain, tuning shop, and racing waxes, in a full range of bars, pastes, liquids, and overlays. These proprietary formulas are the result of extensive testing around the globe and in different snow types while working with a laboratory that has over 50 years of experience in developing performance snow wax for the world’s top ski and snowboard athletes.

To find which Wend wax is right for your use, explore our temperature/conditions charts for each family of waxes, as well as suggested iron temperatures for best results with our hot-melt waxes.

ALL-MOUNTAIN WAX CHARTS

Our All-Mountain waxes provide durable, high-performance across the full spectrum of conditions from deep winter to summer riding:

  • UNIVERSAL: 10° to 40°F / -12° to 4°C, for old, new & artificial snow.
  • WARM: 28°F / -2°C & above, for wet & artificial snow.
  • MID: 10° to 28°F / -12° to -2°C, for new, mixed & artificial snow.
  • COLD: 10°F / -12°C & below, for cold, dry snow.
  • XCOLD: 0°F / -18°C & below, for colder, dryer snow.

For the best glide in the most challenging conditions, we also make a couple specialized formulas in our Graphite and Base Prep waxes:

  • GRAPHITE UNIVERSAL: 10° to 40°F / -12° to 4°C, for old, new & artificial snow with electrostatic friction, dirty snow, or melt-freeze conditions.
  • BASE PREP UNIVERSAL: 10° to 40°F / -12° to 4°C, for storage, saturation, or preparation before conditions-specific race wax.

TRAINING & RACING WAX CHARTS

Our Training and Racing waxes use higher concentrations of Meadowfoam, Nano-Tech and natural additives, which give them slightly different temperature ranges from our All-Mountain waxes. These waxes have a deeper range in Cold and XCold particularly:

  • UNIVERSAL: 10° to 40°F / -12° to 4°C, for old, new & artificial snow.
  • WARM: 28°F / -2°C & above, for wet & artificial snow.
  • MID: 14° to 28°F / -10° to -2°C, for new, mixed & artificial snow.
  • COLD: -5° to 14°F / -21° to -10°C, for cold, dry snow.
  • XCOLD: -5°F / -21°C & below, for colder, dryer snow.

With unique formulas and varying wax hardness, our Training and Racing waxes also use different suggested iron temps, specially-recommended to each individual wax:
